Have just returned from four wonderful nights at this opulent oasis and cannot praise them highly enough. Lèon- Marie and Ann were perfect hosts and extremely generous with their time and effort above and beyond what one would normally expect. Their home is a treasure trove of beautiful things and I was fortunate enough to stay in the Chinese themed suite which, like the rest of the house, was beautifully appointed. On returning in the evening we were offered refreshments before a sumptuous meal that one would expect at a five star restaurant but at a fraction of the cost. Breakfast was amazing and they went out of their way to make sure we left full and energised. The peace and quiet of the surrounds helped ensure restful nights and within a short time it really felt like a home from home. Even their two lovely dogs accepted us into the family. I look forward to returning to La faisanderie again and again. First class all the way. Merci beaucoup et bravo!

“An unexpected treasure: A 5 star hotel and 5 star restaurant all in one!”
5 5 étoilesAvis écrit le 27 novembre 2014 Séjour en novembre 2014

If like me you travel extensively around the world, invariably in five star and boutique hotels (the latter as you become disenchanted with the former), and enjoy tasting good regional food at restaurants that equally provide an unpretentious and friendly atmosphere, then you probably would not think that you could be impressed with your average B&B (and I come form the birthplace of B&B's) -especially in France which is not renowned for its customer service. Well prepare to have the wind taken out of your sails! La Faisanderie is the exception to the rule. A real jewel in the crown of French Chambre d'Hote.

Like me, you might have raised an eyebrow when you saw their tariff - and that of their table d'hote (the evening meal with your hosts). But - La Faisanderie - came highly recommended by a friend who had stayed there and whom I trusted. She was not wrong. It was worth every penny - or euro - and more.

It's not the easiest of places to find - so use the GPS reference provided on their site and you will be OK. I arrived in the dark and had typed in the post code which lead me around the countryside - and at night that's not much fun when you have been on the road, as I had, for some 9 hours. But then I arrived at this amazing village - La Rochbeaucourt - and found the ruins of the chateau and from there I was spellbound as I head up this winding and impressive lane to the La Faisanderie - whose lights were like a beacon to a distressed sailor (which I was).

Despite the late hour (9pm) Anne (the real "boss" of the household) was there to meet me at the steps up to the magnificent kitchen (not that you have to enter via this way). I'm glad I did though as I got a taste of the meal that was still awaiting me despite the late hour. I met her husband, and three other guests, who had already tucked into the first course and were awaiting my arrival. What nice people.

It was a banquet - as it was for the three further nights I stayed at La Faisanderie.

So to keep this short what do you get for your money. Well prepared to be spoiled. I stayed in the Imperial room and I was taken aback by the careful marriage of old and new. The odl being furniture and pictures from the Napoleonic era (or thereabouts) and modern day features of a breathtaking bathroom with state of the art shower and suspended toilet. The toiletries smelled exquisite and I wish I had the same at home. The only downside was the lack of bed-side lamp and a radiator - but I was assured this was due to recent refurbishment and would be in place in the coming weeks (for my next stay I hope).

As with any B&B you know that you will have breafast included. But apart from my visits to Berlin (a city I adore) I have never had breakfast to match La Faisanderie in any 5 star hotel anywhere in the world - including the Mandarin in Hong Kong (well not at the same price). Not only do you have the usual croissant, pain chocolat, bread rolls, and home made jams etc, but laid out in front of you on a pristine white linen tablecloth with the finest tableware and flatware, you are spoiled with salmon, (or on my last day kippers), herring, and if that were not enough, a British style cooked breakfast (cooked I may add to perfection). Oh, and of course you have as much ground roast coffee, and fresh orange juice as you can manage to drink.

But that is not all. Earlier I mentioned my first experience of their dinner (table d'hote at 40 euros). As I said I raised an eyebrow when I saw the price. But for this you have:
- an aperitif and small home made snacks;
- a three course meal that will stimulate your taste buds and be a feast for your eyes;
- an excellent choice of wine that complements the meal;
oh and of course the cheese and side salad - I never seem to know in which order I am supposed to eat them in France;
- And then, back in front of the fireside, a digestif.

So when you consider what that all this would cost in a similar restaurant, it is clear that your hosts are not doing this to make money, but to enjoy fine living shared with their guests.

The conversation - usually dominated by Anne's husband Leon-Marie, will have you spell bound. What a great man. And his wife Anne Sacre, is also a delight. We were also inspired by the conversation and presence of their daughter (a lawyer), Clementine, on a couple of evenings. Between the three of them you felt really privileged to be sharing a special moment in a very special home.

Would I return again? Without a shadow of a doubt? Have they asked me to write this, or am I connected to them in any way? No - and as you will see I have rarely written a report for Tripadvisor before. This family somehow made me feel they deserved a few minutes of my attention in small return for the way in which they looked after me during my very pleasant four day stay with them.

If you are in the region, and choose to stay with Anne, Leon-Marie and Clementine Sacre, I am confident you will not regret your choice.

Wonderful hosts, wonderful stay, fantastic place - I love it!

Don't know what to say without sounding OTT... This really is a jewel. Lovely building in the peace and quiet outside le Rochebeaucourt.

Rooms are themed and relaxing, food is top class all home made, plentiful and simply delicious. Breakfasts are enormous, dinner is just what you need after a day exploring / working. Really didn't want to leave!

La Faisanderie's biggest assets are les hôtes, Leon-Marie & Anne. Lovely people for whom nothing is too much trouble!

Lovely lounge, huge grounds and a nice swimming pool & spa.

Fantastic VFM and a great place to be based while you explore the area!

Stayed at La Faisanderie on business - a tough course with a local Immobilier.

I cannot speak more highly of this superb Chambre d'Hôte. We had a fantastic time!

The hosts, Léon-Marie and Ann layed on the perfect welcome and served food which was fit for a king. Breakfasts were huge, the perfect set up for a hard day's learning!

Rooms are tasteful and comfortable - felt like 'my' country residence! The & spa were refreshing!

Rêpas was simply first class. Pay la Faisanderie a visit and you'll soon figure out why! (Ask Léon-Marie to let you sample his Armagnac!!)

5 Stars, without hesitation.

Avec mes meilleurs mémoires, jusqu'a la prochaine fois!I had a wonderful meal here when I was on a course in the region. The couple were absolutely adorable....
